New-build home under construction in the Forest of Dean

New builds & developments

A new home, built by one team from the ground up.

Full new-build homes, barn conversions and small developments across the Forest of Dean. We run the groundworks, the structure, the roof and the finish ourselves, so nothing gets lost between trades.

What we build

From a bare plot, or an old barn, to a finished home

A new build stands or falls on the same things a good extension does, just for longer and at bigger scale: ground that’s properly understood, a structure built square and true, and trades that talk to each other. We take on full new-build houses, barn and agricultural conversions, and small developments of a handful of plots.

We did exactly this with a barn conversion in Bream, working with an existing stone shell and timber frame, bringing in new foundations where the old building needed them, and taking the whole thing up to a modern living standard without losing what made it a barn in the first place.

What’s included

Every stage, under one roof

Whether it’s a new house on a bare plot or an old barn brought back into use.

Planning & design support

Help with drawings, planning applications and building-regs submissions before a spade goes in the ground.

Groundworks & foundations

Footings dug and inspected to whatever the ground and the engineer call for, with the setting-out done by the same team that builds off them.

Structure & build

Blockwork, steels and timber frame brought up square and weathertight, stage by inspected stage.

Barn & conversion work

Existing stone and frame retained where it’s sound, with new structure and services worked in around it.

Roofing & weatherproofing

Roof structure, coverings, fascias and guttering finished so the building is dry before first fix starts.

First fix to finish

Plastering, flooring and decorating coordinated through to a home that’s ready to move into.

How it works

From first drawing to keys in hand

Five stages, each one signed off before the next starts.

  1. 1

    Site visit & quote

We walk the plot or the barn, talk through what you want and give you an honest quote.

  2. 2

    Design & consent

Drawings, planning and building-regs sorted, with a realistic start date agreed.

  3. 3

    Foundations

Footings dug, inspected by Building Control and poured before anything else starts.

  4. 4

    Structure & roof

Walls, steels and roof brought weathertight, so the inside can dry out properly.

  5. 5

    Finish & keys

First and second fix, plastering and decorating through to a home ready to live in.

Common questions

New builds, answered

Full new homes. We take on complete new-build houses and barn conversions as well as extensions, and we run the same team and the same standards across both: our own groundworks, structure, roofing and finish, start to handover.

Yes. We completed a barn conversion in Bream, working with the existing stone and frame while bringing the structure, drainage and services up to a modern living standard. Every barn is different, so we look at the building first and tell you honestly what it needs before pricing it.

We help with drawings and planning applications, and we build to current building regulations throughout, booking Building Control inspections at each stage from footings to completion.

It depends on size and ground conditions, but a modest new-build home typically runs from several months to over a year once groundworks start. We give you a realistic programme with the quote, not an optimistic one, and keep you posted if anything shifts it.

Cinderford, Coleford, Lydbrook, Bream, Mitcheldean, Newnham and across the wider Forest of Dean and Gloucestershire. If you’re nearby and not sure, just ask.

A new build runs through nearly every trade we’ve got

It starts with groundworks, finishes under a new roof, and a barn or older building on the plot often needs some renovation alongside it.
